Immunization FAQ

Required Immunizations:

Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
It is the University's policy that all students be adequately immunized against measles, mumps and rubella prior to attendance. The requirement is as following: 1st measles dose after 12 months and 2nd dose one month or greater from 1st dose. Students born before 1957 are exempt from providing documentation.

Tuberculosis
Students should discuss with their health care providers whether they are at high risk for tuberculosis exposure. If so, they should have a PPD skin test. Students coming to UNH from a country where tuberculosis is endemic are required to provide documentation of a negative PPD skin test within six (6) months of enrollment here or documentation of a negative chest x-ray if the test is positive. If the x-ray is positive, proof of treatment must be provided.

Recommended Immunizations:

Meningococcal
The American College Health Association (ACHA) recommends that college students consider vaccination to reduce their risk for potentially fatal meningococcal disease. In support of this recommendation, Health Services suggests you discuss the risk for meningococcal disease on campus with your health care provider, and consider getting vaccinated. Ideally this would be done before coming to campus, but Health Services can provide the vaccine. An appointment can be scheduled with a nurse here. Please note that vaccination against meningococcal disease is not a requirement for admission to UNH.

Hepatitis B
We are strongly recommending that all students be vaccinated against Hepatitis B.
